Chocolate, chocolate chip sourdough bread is a family favorite around here. This is the recipe that my kids ask me to make anytime they catch me making bread. It is a sweet bread that can be used for dessert or breakfast. It is sweet enough on it's own, but we like to add strawberry butter for just the right mix of sweetness.

Ingredients:

4 cups of all purpose flour

1 1/2 teaspoons of salt

4 Tablespoons of cocoa powder

1/2 cup of brown sugar

2/3 cup of active sourdough starter

1 1/2 cup of water

1 cup of chocolate chips

Directions:

Combine all but the chocolate chips and rest for 30 minutes. Mix dough and let it ferment for 8-12 hours in a warm place. Knead, fold in chocolate chips, and shape into a loaf. Let it rise for 1 hour and bake at 350º for 1 hour in a dutch oven.
